L + L - A Canadian Rockies Elopement

Some love stories cross oceans and time zones. For L + L, every mile brings them closer. Their Canadian Rockies elopement is more than a wedding day. It celebrates a love that crosses hemispheres. It also promises new beginnings under the vast alpine sky.

The First Look

Their ceremony spot sits close to our stay in Dead Man’s Flats. First, the groom and his friends walk to the lake. Soon after, L, her friend, and her sweet dog Timber follow. The frozen lake remains empty, with not a single soul in sight.

At first, the east side of the lake looks thawed. The blue water chops against the wind. However, the west side remains covered in snow, and the ice feels solid.

L stands on the ice with their crew, facing the mountains. They wait for his bride.

Meanwhile, L steps out of the car in a beautiful white cape. It keeps her warm on the ice. We take a short walk to the empty frozen lake with Victoria and Timber. L takes a deep breath. She walks down to the ice, ready to meet her groom.

Finally, the two meet and embrace after a morning apart.

L + L's Ceremony in the Canadian Rockies

Now, mountains surround them as they take a quiet moment with Rev Favi. They choose to elope in the Canadian Rockies for a reason. The towering peaks and frozen lakes mirror the quiet strength of their bond.

Their ceremony feels casual, just as they want. They exchange vows under the open sky. Laughter echoes against the mountains. The crisp air carries their promises into the world.

Their friends stay close, wrapping them in warmth and love. Timber lies on the ice, looking at home. Their forest green and navy blue suits, dress, and Timber’s tux look beautiful on the frozen lake.

L + L say their own vows during the ceremony. They quietly read words that bind them while the wind whips around them. Their garments and hair lift in the breeze. At one point, the word “patience” sends the group into laughter. Their inside joke echoes across the lake, carrying joy until the ceremony ends.

At last, they are husband and wife.

Exploring a Frozen Lake

This adventure is unexpected. We explore a frozen lake with a lovely couple and their friends. The Canadian Rockies hug us closely.

Since our groom falls through the ice at Lake Louise the day before, we move carefully. We test the ice before letting it carry our weight. For safety, we stay near the shoreline.

The newlyweds share their first dance on the ice. They cuddle under L’s cape to keep warm.

A Toast to the Happy Couple

Next, we drive back to the resort nearby. Behind the resort, we find a small bridge with a frozen wash below. Beyond the bridge, an icy forest waits quietly. It feels perfect for a quick toast before dinner.

Rihanna’s “We Found Love in a Hopeless Place” starts playing. They dance on literal thin ice, laughing together. Meanwhile, the boys squeeze in a quick snowball fight.

As we leave on the icy, muddy trail, L starts singing “Dumb Ways to Die.” This moment feels perfect. Who knows an elopement could be so delightfully wild?
